Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 18, 2026
In short: Magpie Clip collects no personal data. It sends nothing over the network. Your clipboard history stays on your Mac, and you can delete it at any time.
Who is responsible
Magpie Clip is made by Kualisoft, an independent studio. For any question about this policy or your data, write to support@kualisoft.net.
What Magpie Clip does not do
- It has no network access. It cannot send your data anywhere, and it makes no internet requests.
- It has no account and no sign-in.
- It has no analytics, no ads, no tracking and no third-party code that collects data.
- I, the developer, cannot see your clipboard history or your settings.
What stays on your Mac
To show your history, Magpie Clip saves these things in files on your Mac, inside a private folder that macOS gives the app:
- The text and images you copy.
- For files you copy in Finder, where each file is, so Magpie Clip can copy it back. It does not copy the file itself.
- Text found inside copied images. Your Mac reads the text itself, with Apple's built-in text recognition. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- For each entry, the app you copied it from and the time you copied it.
- Your settings, such as the shortcut, the block list and how much history to keep.
The history is a file inside the app's own folder on your Mac, in ~/Library/Containers. The app does not encrypt it. Anyone who can sign in to your Mac user account could read it. FileVault, in System Settings, encrypts your whole disk.
What Magpie Clip leaves out
- Copies that password managers mark as concealed or temporary.
- Anything you copy while Apple Passwords is the front app.
- Anything you copy while an app on your block list is in front.
- Everything, while you pause tracking from the menu bar.
Permissions
Accessibility (optional, off by default). The “Paste immediately after selecting” option needs the Accessibility permission, which you grant in System Settings. Magpie Clip uses it only to press ⌘V in the app you were using, so the entry you chose is pasted there. It does not read other apps' windows or what you type. You can turn the permission off in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility.
How long data is kept
Entries stay on your Mac until you delete them, or until Magpie Clip removes them under these rules:
- Magpie Clip keeps 25 to 500 entries, as you choose.
- Magpie Clip deletes entries older than 30 days. You can change this to 7 or 90 days in Preferences › General. Pinned entries stay.
- When entries add up to about 200 MB, it removes the oldest unpinned ones first.
How to delete your data
- One entry: select it in the history window and press ⌘⌫.
- All history: click the menu bar icon and choose Clear History. This deletes every entry and the history file.
- Everything: quit Magpie Clip, move its folder in
~/Library/Containersto the Trash, then delete the app. Support has step-by-step instructions.
Because I never receive your history, I cannot delete it for you.
Apple
You buy and download Magpie Clip from the Mac App Store. Apple handles the purchase under Apple's Privacy Policy. If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your Mac's settings, Apple may share crash reports and usage statistics about Magpie Clip with me. You control that choice in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements, and you can turn it off at any time.
Email to support
If you write to support@kualisoft.net, I receive your email address and what you send. I use it only to answer you, and I do not sell it or pass it on to anyone else.
To see, correct, or delete your data, write to the same address.
Children
Magpie Clip collects no data from anyone, including children. It is not made specifically for children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, I will update this page and the effective date at the top. If a future version of Magpie Clip ever collects data, this page will say so before that version is released.
